Have you ever had a time when you were overwhelmed, in pain, and in a hurry? What about when you thought you were doing a good job covering your feelings, and you were told that you really weren’t covering them at all? Let me tell you a story….

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to vend at a local craft fair. The day before it was to be going on,  we were busily preparing, gathering, and loading supplies. I was not feeling the best, but nevertheless, I was trying to stay cheerful and keep singing. My proud self thought that she was doing pretty well with this task of covering my feelings. Then, in the business of the evening, I scurried past a younger sibling in the hallway. This sibling scowled at me. Quite shocked, I asked if she was ok.

"Yes", she replied calmly, and really quite sweetly. "I was just being a mirror for you."

Oh yes, all of my righteousness is as filthy rags. God’s grace was sufficient for my now humbled self, and I was able to laugh at the remark as I quickly changed my facial expression.

Praise the LORD for younger siblings, and for His kindness and mercy in gently correcting the pride that rises in the hearts of His children. "His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endureth to all generations."

Lyon & Healy Lever Harps for Sale

We are currently selling our Lyon & Healy Prelude lever harp, which we purchased through the Atlanta Harp Center in late 2013. It has been lovingly cared for and enjoyed. We are now selling it because of a recent upgrade. There are some “wear and tear” marks on the column and base. Levers are in excellent working condition. This harp has a vivid, clear, and warm tone, easily comparable to the L&H Chicago pedal harps.
Preludes are wonderful for gigs, studio use, and students. They are able to handle pedal tension gut strings, and feature pedal harp spacing, making them an excellent option for those who would like to progress to a pedal harp. Includes a tuning key and dust cover. We are asking $4500.

Feel free to contact us with additional questions.

Also, we are selling our Lyon & Healy Troubadour III, age unknown. The soundboard and levers were replaced in 2015. The rest of the harp is in like-new condition, and is structurally sound. This harp has a beautiful lever harp tone – clear, vibrant, and it carries well. It would make an excellent student instrument or gig harp. We are asking $3000.

Feel free to contact us with additional questions.

11 Encouraging Mottos

We recently came across a letter from our dear friend, Uncle Bill, which contained some mottos that have blessed his life and ministry. Sometimes the most simple truth can be such a great encouragement.

  • “For the Word of the Lord is right: and all His works are done in truth.” Psalm 33:4
  • The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God will not sustain you.
  • The knowing plus the doing of the will of God equals life.
  • Little is much if God is in it, and much is little if God is not in it.
  • The flesh (human nature apart from God) has a one-word vocabulary: more!
  • He who does what he pleases is never pleased with what he does.
  • Proper preparation prevents poor performance.
  • Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God.
  • No disaster is greater than underestimating the enemy.
  • Faith demands obedience, with God being responsible for all consequences.
  • “For of Him and through Him, and to Him are all things: to Whom be glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:36

Thoughts for 2017

As our family gathers to remember the faithfulness of the Lord in 2016 and also lay out some goals and plans for 2017, some specific thoughts stood out to me.

  • God is always good.
  • We don’t know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future; and He is faithful!
  • The worst thing that can happen to me is for me to have my own way (Proverbs 1:30-31).
  • God’s Word is a refuge for us.
  • “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all they getting, get understanding. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.” Proverbs 4:7, 13
  • “Your attitude will determine your altitude.” Trust the Lord, and soar to new heights!
  • Goals are important. But it is equally important to hold those goals with an open hand. Let the Lord lead.
  • We have time for everything we’re supposed to do. If God calls us to do something, He will supply the time and energy. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
