Praise the Lord that in our lives, God always writes the last chapter. He is a Master at turning what 'went wrong' into good (Gen. 45:5). All things are working together for good (Rom. 8:28) and He will finish the work He has begun in us (Phil. 1:6). Thank you Jessica for the memorable story with such a powerful lesson!

Jessica, your cake sounds great! Your adjustment to the cake reminds me of a pie I made when I was in college. I have never been able to beat egg whites until stiff - still can't - and after preparing a lemon pie I at least wanted it to "look" right, so I put Cool Whip on top and made beautiful peaks. It looked pretty good, but I remembered that all the lemon pies I had ever seen had brown tips on the peaks. So....... I put it in the oven to brown them! Bad idea! I had a melted mess! Still makes me laugh - many years later!
Thanks for sharing!

Jessica, thanks for sharing. I'm glad the cake passed the taste bud taste. I've had a few flops in my day. If you ever decide to make pudding from scratch, make sure you don't use the egg whites if the recipe only calls for egg yolks.... (and especially if you are taking it to someone's house!)

In your list of "lessons to be learned," I know that the last one is definitely the one I need to work the hardest on learning!

This cake sounds yummy. I think I might experiment with my own version of it. I WILL think of you when I make it. ...But, sorry - you know me! - I can't bear to make a recipe without tweaking it, even if I know the people who gave it to me are fanTASTic cooks. :) :)
